Areas of focus
Development finance and impact investments
David leads the preparation, financing, and delivery of complex investments, funds, and multi-country programs in development finance and impact investing. His experience includes leading investment platforms and multibillion-dollar transaction pipelines, mobilizing capital, and advising investment committees, boards, governments, development finance institutions, and private investors from early proposition through investment decision, financing, and implementation. The work draws on investment strategy, project preparation, investment readiness, stakeholder coordination, investor engagement, portfolio delivery, and the analysis required to make an opportunity investable. David has led investment and advisory programs for energy, infrastructure, digital connectivity, agribusiness, and financial services over the course of two decades.
Sustainability, responsible banking and investment
Responsible banking and investment call for senior judgment across governance, strategy, portfolio management, and accountability. David leads advisory, review, and capacity-building work with sustainability framework bodies, banks, investors, and development finance institutions, engaging executive teams on the decisions that turn responsible finance commitments into credible action. His work spans sustainability strategy, governance, target setting, transition planning, impact management, and implementation, supported where needed by portfolio analysis, regulatory interpretation, and institutional capacity building.
Digital connectivity, fintech and agtech
Across Africa and other emerging markets, David has led digital economy, payments, fintech, and infrastructure initiatives at the level of investment strategy, transaction execution, and business transformation. He has built and led consulting practices and multi-country programs, advised senior corporate and public-sector leaders, and managed work ranging from digital infrastructure investments and public-private delivery to fintech acquisitions and post-acquisition transformation. His work draws on digital infrastructure, platforms, data, and artificial intelligence, with market assessment, policy, regulatory, and technical analysis supporting the decisions and investment cases. David's investment and technical support to fintech, agtech, and payment platforms have focused on scaling up productive access to capital, digital financial inclusion, and SME finance in Africa.
Selected experience
Selected institutional experience includes work with the World Bank Group on digital financial inclusion, digital economy policy, investment preparation and structuring, and infrastructure financing; the African Development Bank on agribusiness, investment quality, capital mobilization, and implementation delivery; and the United Nations Environment Programme - Finance Initiative on responsible banking, sustainability strategy, target setting, and implementation.
Across these and other assignments, he has worked with senior decision-makers, boards, investment teams, public authorities, financial institutions, and businesses to move ambition from analysis and strategy toward investment, implementation, and impact.
